01 The Situation

In 2021, Ash made a strategic decision that would define the company: pivot from direct-to-consumer to B2B. It was the right call. It was also an enormous technical lift.

To serve enterprise healthcare clients, Ash needed a secure API connecting their platform to a national lab network. Patient data would flow through it. HIPAA compliance was non-negotiable. A single failure had clinical consequences. And they needed it built fast enough that the business could actually move.

Their internal engineering team couldn't absorb the work alone.

02 How We Worked Together

Remedy embedded a cross-functional team alongside Ash's and focused on rapid go-to-market.

Within 90 days, we shipped a production-grade Lab API that securely passed patient data between Ash's platform and their lab network. The integration worked. The pivot could proceed. And the partnership that started with one critical problem expanded as Ash grew.

As Ash added clients and extended their lab network, new requirements followed. We built a Lab Routing system, a decision engine that assigns each order to the right lab based on price, speed, state compliance, and test type. We added a Physician of Record layer so that sensitive test results reach patients through a doctor rather than arriving without context. We built patient and client portals that gave individuals direct access to their health data and gave Ash's enterprise partners visibility into their populations.

When Ash moved upmarket to enterprise payors, the security requirements intensified. We built the compliance and data infrastructure to meet them. When they needed to expand their lab network and raise their Series A, we made direct introductions to investors and lab partners.

Five years in, our team spans four pods covering platform architecture, portals, integrations, and data engineering. We sit in Ash's internal meetings, work alongside their leadership, and engage directly with lab partners and enterprise clients.
