01 The Situation

ClassPass had product-market fit. Demand was real, growing fast, and accelerating. What they didn't have was infrastructure that could keep up.

Every noon booking window was a stress test the system wasn't passing. Reservations were failing at peak hours. Manual workarounds were holding things together. And while all of that was happening, ClassPass still needed to ship a mobile app, move from a single subscription to a multi-tier pricing model, and build the technical foundation their next funding round would require.

Their engineering team was three people.

02 How We Worked Together

Remedy embedded with the ClassPass team and took ownership of three sequential problems.

First: stabilize the core. We rearchitected the reservation system from monolith to microservices, eliminating the failure points that were making every peak hour a crisis. ClassPass could now scale booking volume without the infrastructure becoming the ceiling.

Second: build for mobile. Using behavior-driven development, we built a production-grade API with functional tests documenting every use case. The iOS MVP was in users' hands 90 days after we started.

Third: support the business model shift. Moving from a single subscription to multi-tier pricing required end-to-end implementation and testing across a live user base. We shipped it on time, with no service interruption for existing subscribers.

During our two year engagement, ClassPass's internal team grew from 3 engineers to more than 30. Remedy helped onboard and transition core team members as the company scaled into each new phase.
